Fit for the Future – Local Government Reform in NSW

Council adopted its esponse to the New South Wales Government’s Fit for the Future package on 26th June 2015, proposing that Wakool Shire becomes a Rural Council.

The Independent Local Government Review Panel (ILGRP) recommended two alternate options for Wakool Shire Council – to become a Rural Council in a Mid-Murray Joint Organisation or potentially a merger with Murray, Conargo and Deniliquin councils.

The New South Wales Government released its Fit for the Future package in September 2014 after a three-year independent review of Local Government in New South Wales.
