2013 marks the fourth time Wakool Shire have held the awards with an impressive number of local businesses and event sponsors present on the evening.

One of Australia's most highly ranked motivational speakers, Graeme Joy was a special guest on the evening and shared the secret to successful leadership styles, effective decision-making, and highly motivated teams.

Graeme is perhaps best known as the joint leader and navigator of the International North Pole Expedition where he became the first and only Australian to ski to the North Pole. He subsequently ski-sailed alone to the Magnetic North Pole becoming, once again, the first and only Australian to do so.

Wakool Shire Mayor, Cr Andrew Douglas also attended the evening and recognised the awards as a great way of celebrating the success of local businesses and community groups.

"There is no doubt an enjoyable evening was had by all and it was great to see so many members of the local community attend."

"The awards certainly provided a platform to showcase the success of a broad range of businesses, groups and individuals."

"I would once again like to commend all nominees and category winners for their outstanding contribution to business and community life in Wakool Shire," Cr Douglas said.

The 2013 Wakool Shire Business & Community Excellence Awards were proudly sponsored by 3SH/Mixx FM, Southern Cross Ten, cluBarham, Your Community Cares, Essential Energy and Wakool Shire.
