Wakool Shire Council General Manager Bruce Graham said the draft LEP is a key planning instrument which affected all land within the Shire and encouraged property owners to provide feedback to the document.
"While some planning controls may not change greatly for some areas, there are other areas where significant changes regarding land development have been proposed.
"Therefore it is crucial that all our property owners take the opportunity to look at the draft LEP, discuss any queries with Council staff and provide feedback to the document," Mr Graham said.
Mr Graham added that all councils within the state were required to prepare a new LEP as part of the New South Wales Planning Reform Agenda.
Wakool Shire Council's current LEP, although amended at various stages, has been in place for 20 years.
"However, the process in preparing this draft LEP has been important for Wakool Shire and has seen a couple of significant achievements," Mr Graham said.
"This includes key changes being made to the Shire's biodiversity and wetland maps, and receiving nearly $400,000 in funding from the Office of Environment and Heritage to conduct flood studies, enabling us to update our flood mapping data which is over 25 years old."
The draft LEP will be on exhibition until Friday, 15 March 2013. Written submissions to the draft LEP should be received by Council by the close of business on Friday, 22 March 2013.
A factsheet regarding the draft LEP has been mailed out to all property owners within the Shire and is available for download below.
