The website has been designed to promote the wide variety of nature-based activities, towns, events and the services that compliment these products right throughout the Shire.
Wakool Shire Mayor, Cr Neil Gorey said the launch of wakoolrivers.com.au is a significant step in marketing the Shire to visitors.
“Visitors now primarily look to the internet to research, locate and source information for travel and experiences.”
“As such, Wakool Shire’s tourism website will present the general tourism information available along with specific events, promotions, maps and promotional opportunities.”
“We’ve also ensured it will be responsive to any mobile device to link in with the traveller passing through or on their way to the area- which is a very valuable tourism market,” he said.
Cr Gorey said research on what visitors were looking for suggests they are not only after information on what to do, but contact details and how to get to their chosen destination.
“That is why we have linked into Google maps and have a specific maps section on the site. We have also made sure we have details of operators so our visitors know where to go for specific products,” he added.
The new website is reflective of the Shire’s “naturally” branding and with travellers predominantly made up of recreational boaters and fisherman, caravan and motor-home travellers and families, the content and visuals on the website have been tailored to inspire this tourism market.
