The session will be held at the Riverside Reception Room on Tuesday 10th July 2012 for all businesses and community members who are available to attend.
Ex-local and Guide Dogs Australia representative Daniel Searle will be running the session.
Council's Communications and Events Coordinator, Courtney Guy said that information will be provided on legislation, access and helping those with a vision impairment.
"The aim of the session is to provide both businesses and community groups with a better understanding of what can and can't happen with guide dogs and other general information."
"Daniel is not only an experienced speaker but can offer first-hand advice and suggestions based on his own experiences," Courtney said.
The session will provide a general overview of how guide dogs aid with mobility, ways to assist people with vision impairment along with up-to-date information on legislation.
"This is very important information for all of us and any knowledge gained is just another way we can build on the great customer service offered in this area."
"It's also a great opportunity to hear Daniel' story and meet his gorgeous guide dog 'Bear'," Courtney said.
The information session will run from 6 pm with refreshments provided.
Interested businesses or community members should RSVP by 6 July 2012 to Council's Barham Office on 03 5453 3200.
